CCTV Installation
IP, HD, and 4K CCTV installation with NVR recording, remote viewing, ANPR, and AI video analytics. GDPR and Surveillance Camera Code of Practice compliant. Installed to BS EN 62676.
HD & IP CCTV Surveillance Systems
KS & A Security Solutions Ltd designs, installs, commissions, and maintains CCTV systems that deliver deterrence, evidential-quality footage, and genuine operational insight. Whether you need a handful of cameras over a shopfront or a multi-site network with analytics and number-plate recognition, we build systems that are fit for purpose, compliant, and easy to use.
Modern CCTV is far more than a camera and a recorder. Today’s IP systems deliver 4K clarity, view live and recorded footage on your phone from anywhere, and use AI to alert you to the events that matter while ignoring the ones that don’t. We install to BS EN 62676, the British and European standard for video surveillance systems, and every installation is designed to meet your obligations under UK GDPR and the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice.
Serving commercial, industrial, and residential clients across Hemel Hempstead, London, Hertfordshire, and the Home Counties since 2026.
Our CCTV Services
IP, HD & 4K Camera Systems
The right cameras, correctly positioned, for genuinely useful footage.
- Resolution to suit the task — from 2 MP HD to 4K Ultra HD, so you capture recognisable faces and readable number plates, not just a blurry outline.
- Camera types for every location — bullet, turret, and dome cameras; discreet internal cameras for offices and retail; rugged external cameras with IK10 vandal resistance and IP67 weatherproofing for perimeters and car parks.
- Low-light and night performance — infrared, ColorVu, and starlight technologies for clear images in darkness.
- Specialist optics — varifocal and motorised zoom lenses, panoramic and multi-sensor cameras for wide areas.
NVR & Cloud Recording
Reliable recording and storage sized to your retention needs.
- Network video recorders (NVR) — on-premise recording with redundant storage and RAID options for critical sites.
- Hybrid cloud backup — mirror critical footage off-site so it survives theft, fire, or tampering of the recorder.
- Configurable retention — recording schedules and retention periods set to your operational and GDPR requirements, with automatic first-in-first-out overwrite.
- Edge storage — on-camera SD recording as a resilient backup to the main recorder.
Remote Viewing & Mobile Apps
Your cameras in your pocket, wherever you are.
- Live and recorded footage on smartphone, tablet, or desktop from anywhere with an internet connection.
- Push notifications for motion, line-crossing, and other analytics events — know the moment something happens.
- Multi-user access — independent logins with granular permissions, so managers see everything and supervisors see only their zones.
- Secure by design — encrypted connections and two-factor authentication options to keep your footage private.
ANPR & Video Analytics
Turn passive recording into an active, intelligent tool.
- ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) — capture and log vehicle registrations entering and leaving your site, with allow-lists and block-lists to automate barriers and gates.
- AI video analytics — line-crossing and intrusion detection, loitering alerts, people counting, heat mapping, and object-left-behind detection.
- Smart search — filter recorded footage by person, vehicle, colour, or event to cut investigation time from hours to minutes.
- False-alarm reduction — human and vehicle classification means you are alerted to people and cars, not moving branches and shadows.
GDPR Compliance & Servicing
Compliant from day one, and kept that way.
- Data Protection Impact Assessments — we help you justify and document the purpose of your system as the ICO expects.
- Signage and privacy masking — compliant signage supplied as standard, with privacy zones to exclude areas you must not record.
- Retention and SAR support — configured retention policies and procedures for responding to subject access requests.
- Ongoing maintenance — scheduled preventative visits, remote health monitoring, lens cleaning, firmware updates, and guaranteed response times.
Standards and Compliance
| Standard | What It Means |
|---|---|
| BS EN 62676 | The British and European standard for video surveillance systems, covering image quality, performance, storage, and system requirements. |
| BS 8418 | The standard for detector-activated, remotely monitored CCTV systems eligible for a police response. |
| UK GDPR / ICO | CCTV footage is personal data. Systems are designed with data protection by design — lawful basis, DPIAs, signage, privacy masking, retention, and subject access procedures. |
| Surveillance Camera Code of Practice | Home Office code encouraging proportionate, transparent, and effective use of surveillance cameras in public places. |
| NSI Certified | Independently audited installation to the gold standard of UK security, recognised by insurers and required for many commercial specifications. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I view my CCTV on my phone?
Yes — all our IP-based CCTV systems include remote viewing as standard. You install the manufacturer’s app (or a unified platform app), scan a QR code generated by the installer, and have live and recorded footage on your phone or tablet from anywhere with an internet connection. You can receive push notifications for motion, line-crossing, or other analytics events, and multiple users can have independent logins with different permissions. Remote access is configured securely with encrypted connections and two-factor authentication options.
How long should CCTV footage be kept?
There is no fixed statutory retention period for CCTV in the UK. The ICO advises keeping footage only as long as necessary for its purpose — 31 days is a sensible default for general surveillance. You may need longer if footage is required as evidence or you operate in a regulated sector such as licensed premises or financial services. Our recorders overwrite automatically on a first-in-first-out basis, and we can set retention per camera to keep you compliant and proportionate.
Do I need signage for CCTV?
Yes. Under UK GDPR and ICO guidance you must inform people that CCTV is in operation. Signage must be clearly visible and legible, state who operates the cameras, and give contact details for the data controller. Covert surveillance without signage requires a very high bar of justification — specific, time-limited investigations, not routine monitoring. We supply compliant signage as part of every installation and advise on placement.
What resolution of camera do I need?
It depends on what you need the footage to prove. For general area overview, 2 MP HD is often adequate; to recognise faces or read number plates reliably you should specify higher resolution (4 MP to 4K) and, crucially, position the camera correctly for the field of view. Resolution alone is not enough — lens choice, mounting height, lighting, and low-light performance all matter. During your survey we design each camera around the specific task it must perform, rather than simply fitting the highest megapixel count everywhere.
Will CCTV work at night?
Yes. Modern cameras use infrared illumination for clear black-and-white images in total darkness, while technologies such as ColorVu and starlight sensors deliver full-colour footage in very low light using ambient illumination or a discreet warm-light LED. We specify the right night-time technology for each location — a dark car park, a lit forecourt, and an internal corridor all call for different solutions.
